Variable is a sculptural work whose structure is achieved by combining two elliptical panels, the surfaces of which are embellished in vitreous material and held in equilibrium via one single point of contact. A balance of elements is enhanced by the complex interplay of reflections upon textured surfaces of coloured glass. Forms and colours interact with the building’s eighteenth century architecture.
CaCO3’s research investigates the relationship between different materials, the aesthetic possibilities that emerge through the alteration of the fundamental aspects of a techinique, that also re ects the intrinsic dynamics of the group.”
